999
Words & Music by Brooke Lunderville, 2008.
A song about a heartbreaking frustration I think we've all experienced. I was originally going to call this "Missing Piece," but I've been getting bored of seeing the first song in my filk book, so I wanted something to precede it alphabetically. I guess technically you'd file this under N, but shhh.

PDF leadsheet for 999.
MP3 recording of 999.

I posted the music to 999 online before I had any words for it, and Peter Alway, bless his meddling heart, has remixed it with his crazy midi mojo. MP3 recording of Professor Pete's mangled version.

I bought a jigsaw puzzle D Gsus4
To pass the time D F
The box said a thousand pieces D Gsus4
I count nine hundred ninety nine `	D F C D (Bb6)

Just getting the edge assembled
Was an arduous chore
We could find just three corners
Out of four (The last one was on the floor)

Nine hundred ninety nine Dm Dsus2 D
Are all the pieces I can find Dm Dsus2 D

I don't even like the picture
It's a landscape with sheep
But if I don't complete it
I know I'll never get to sleep

The missing piece comprises
The edge of a field
It's brown and so's my carpet
I'm starting to feel it will never be revealed

	Nine hundred ninety nine
Are all the pieces I can find

I bought a jigsaw puzzle
To pass the time
The box said a thousand pieces
I count nine hundred ninety nine
